My students need film adaptations of well-loved books such as Harry Potter: The Complete 8-Film Collection, to help them with literary concepts and better reading skills.
The students in this rural Maine community have limited opportunities when it comes to education. Despite that, these local students are eager to learn. Since many students from this area come from low-income households, we hope to provide film adaptations of literature from which students can gain an education.
Though our school lacks funding, local high school students are excited to explore the world of literature through film.
The library budget has been frozen for this year, and we are sorely lacking in film resources for classrooms and students to check out. Many students who struggle with other learning mediums may find film enlightening and engaging. We hope to offer films which will make students think critically about the topics they are introduced to.
My Project
Students at our school have a wide variety of learning styles. Many of them need visual imagery in order to fully understand learning concepts. Film adaptations of literary classics such as The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings will make the learning experience about more than just words on a page. Film adaptions of newer favorites such as the Harry Potter series will bring students' reading to life.
While many students struggle with reading, film adaptations of books can supplement student's education and make English and Language Arts concepts more understandable.
Making reading exciting and enjoyable will guarantee students remember what they are being taught. Films can teach students how to visualize words and literary techniques as well as show them how to be better readers.
