This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Have you ever been somewhere where no one speaks your language? How did that make you feel? Well, my students live with that feeling every day. My students are needing help building the bridge over any gaps they might have in the normal English speaking classroom.
My students are such hard workers.
They are not only faced with the challenges of a new state test, and a new curriculum, but they are also faced with a the challenge of a language barrier. Many of my students speak a different language at home than they do at school. It is very difficult for them to build the bridge over the language gaps.
My Project
I have requested puzzles, and games to work on multiple meaning words, and comprehension with my third, fourth and fifth grade students. I have also requested vocabulary photo cards for my Pre Kindergarten and Kindergarten students. With these materials my students will be able to make a connection with words and real life objects. They will be able to have hands on activities to help them understand context clues, multiple meaning words as well as vocabulary. These resources will inspire them to read and be able to comprehend what they read as well as enjoy it!
Your donation will be able to help all grade levels, Pre Kindergarten-5th grade.
I will be able to offer more exciting and hands on learning in my ESL classroom. Students will achieve the high standards of our new state test!
