As a teacher of students in low income/single-parent family homes, I see my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences. They like to move, they love to read, and love lots of positive attention. The students in my classroom have a range of different abilities.
Living in low income/single-parent family homes may prevent them from getting ahead early in life and may deprive them of life experiences many of us see as typical.
From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hoping to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic excellence.
My Project
Throughout the school year we hold several events on our campus. In order to prepare for these events we are carrying materials back and forth from the Child Care Center to our events building. My students and staff will use these wagons when carrying tools and materials between their classroom and the commons building and the sheds where we store materials. These wagons will make it much more efficient to move materials between the facilities.
My students are dedicated, hard working children and these wagons will allow them to move equipment more efficiently.
They will be able to move more equipment in fewer trips. They also will be able to move material that would otherwise be too heavy to carry by hand. Please help us become more efficient so that we can spend more time doing activities and events and less time moving materials.
