Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher in a low-income school district, my students face several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, many still manage to come to school with a smile. Our school is a diverse place, where differences are accepted, and many languages are spoken. In my classroom, the students know they are respected, that they matter and that their voice will be heard. They can continue to develop their voices with these books.

My Project

Students in my English 9 Honors class will use The New York Times magazines, in order to work on critical reading and writing skills. Students will be taking the SAT in 12th grade. I want to prepare students now for success in the future.

It is extremely important to be up to date on major news events and societal issues.

This donation will allow my students to be educated on all things relevant, while gaining valuable skills needed for the classroom and future careers.

The students are eager to learn, but many of our books are antiquated. This allows them access to new information.
