Walking into our classroom is a little ray of sunshine. Each child in our classroom is a unique individual, making our classroom a happier place to learn and grow together. Together we learn, laugh, and celebrate the smallest of achievements.
We are an Early Learning Special Education classroom.
Our students come to us when they turn 3 years old and stay until they turn 4 years old and are eligible to attend PreK. In addition to working on social skills and pre-academics, our students also receive occupational therapy, physical therapy, and/or speech therapy (depending upon each child's IEP goals).
My Project
Since we are an Early Childhood Special Education classroom, most of our students come to us not potty trained. While potty training is our goal, we must meet the students where they are currently with their restroom needs.
Since most of our students come to us wearing diapers or pull-ups, we require a changing station for our students.
While we currently do have a changing station, it needs to be replaced. While we are able safely place children on it to be changed, the shelves underneath often fall apart. The stairs are also missing requiring teachers to lift children up onto the table. Our table is also red, which does not blend with our school’s Reggio Inspired philosophy.
