My students need literacy materials, including a build-a-word board and Flip & Read Sight-Word Sentences, to help them learn to read and write CVC and sight-words.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"We already know the alphabet!" Most of my students have already met their big goal of learning all the letters this year. What they need is literacy learning materials to push them beyond! With these materials, we can meet our new big goals of reading and writing sight and CVC words!
My students are bright, enthusiastic, and unique.
They are capable and beautiful. The majority are students of color and half are English language learners. They are growing up in a high poverty area of Colorado and 94% of the students at their school receive free/reduced price lunch.
My Project
My students need these materials to push them. The resources I am requesting will help put my students on pathways of expanded opportunities by helping them catch up to/surpass their peers from wealthier neighborhoods.
These materials will help students practice important early literacy skills. The magnetic sound sorting boards will help student hear initial and ending sounds in words. This is a crucial skill to learning to read and write! The sight word flip charts will teach students directionality when reading, and allow them to read sentences at their level, building confidence. The build-a-word magnet boards will allow students to independently build CVC words so they can practice spelling. They will be able to check their own work and take ownership of their learning.
Help make a difference to these students.
Their ability to excel to their highest capacity should not be dictated by school budgets or by the area code they live in. With these resources, they will surpass their peers and be able to close the gap!
