Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We live in a world where political participation and global citizenship are important and essential parts of life; so I am excited and honored to teach young people who are taking the necessary steps to learn about their civic duty. Our school is STEM based and serves an area of Palmdale where most people are socioeconomically disadvantaged. Students are accepted through a lottery and work hard to maintain their spot. My students manage their academics while being involved in extra-curricular activities and working jobs to help their families.

My students are hard working, eager to learn, and self-motivated.

They take advantage of opportunities like being in an AP class because it is challenging and helps with college. Even with hectic schedules, they continue to rise and meet challenges.

My Project

The amount of information required for the AP Government & Politics test surpasses what can be effectively taught in the time frame we've been given, so students rely on review books to help them prepare for the test.

The costs of these books are sometimes more than what students and parents can afford.

I would like a class set so that students may check them out and use them as study materials. I have recommended this book to students throughout the year and several have shared with me that they would love to have one, but their families simply can't afford it.
