Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember raising your hand to get help from a teacher, but she couldn't get to you fast enough as she helped others? This happens to be more than I want to mention. Although, technology is no replacement for me, it will enable to me to give more feedback. This Samsung chromebook will help!
My students are incredibly hard-working and inquisitive.
They are a group of students who are working to understand that hard work and dedication will help them to achieve their dreams. 77% of my 8th graders receive free or reduced lunch living in the nation's Capitol.
My Project
This project is one of a couple that will enable me to have 1:1 laptops in my classroom. I am really excited at the potential opportunity to give my students more real time feedback and be able to specifically help me target the students who are in need of the most help. The Samsung chromebook will be what students use to get online and get learning!
Our class engages in project based learning and students sometimes lack the content mastery they need to be able to adequately do their projects to proficiency. Through the use of GoogleDocs for Education and Canvas LMS, I am creating online content that students must pass before moving on to the project.
The content also includes reteach lessons that help with mastery. I will use the data to help target students who need specific one on one tutoring.
This is the second of five projects that seeks to add nine chromebooks to my classroom to get to 1:1!
Data is extremely important and assessments are necessary to access where students are and inform instruction.
In starting this project, I will be to truly give better feedback to students and be a better teacher for them. With the Samsung chromebook, a student who uses the device will have more opportunities to receive that feedback over than traditional pencil and paper!
