"For those with learning disabilities, today's tools for differentiation no longer hold the stigma they used to nor highlight disabilities, but provide opportunities to find success in the classroom." Sharon LePage Plante
The students in my classroom will use the Kindle Fire to improve their reading skills by using eBooks and educational apps.
My students find it difficult to navigate the internet with a regular computer mouse or touchpad on a laptop. A touchscreen tablet would be extremely beneficial to all of them. I have recently been introduced to the Kindle Fire tablets and find them to be extremely kid-friendly. My classroom would need four Kindle Fire Tablets with protective cases.
My Project
My students love technology but struggle with the computer mouse. They also have a hard time using the laptop touch pads. The Smart Board in my classroom is placed too high for students to reach the top of the screen. The Kindle Fire tablets are ideal because they are touch screen tablets that can be used easily by children of all ages. My students will have access to a plethora of books and educational apps and videos. They will be able to have more independent reading time with the tablets because they will have access to audio books, games, and videos that can be tailored to their individual reading and cognitive levels.
