My students are in 2nd grade. They work very hard in speech therapy.
They love to work on their Individual Education Plan goals with hands on activities.
Each student is unique and we work together to make sure they are making progress in speech therapy in the classroom. My goal for each student is that they will no longer need speech therapy, and they will meet all of their goals. I want to see all of my students be on or above grade level.
I love helping these students work toward mastery of their goals!
My Project
My students enjoy playing games. The games I chose target many of their Individual Education Plan goals.
A game can target many skills needed for communication: turn taking, following directions, answering questions and vocabulary.
Grannies Candies allows the students to earn 'candy' to fill the candy jar while building their vocabulary skills.
The level one core curriculum vocabulary cards allows me a new way to improve and increase a student's vocabulary and reading. The Chipper Chat Articulation game board allows students a visual and rewards their attempts at accurately producing their targeted sound. As a bonus, they get to use a magnetic wand to clean up all of the chips. They will love that.
The Turtle Talk Fluency game will allow me to help a child who stutters while not focusing on the errors but purposefully stuttering so he/she can learn techniques to improve their fluency. The Ring Bling game will be a big hit no doubt. Who doesn't love a little bling as part of speech therapy!
