Our school is home to roughly 300 great fourth and fifth graders. Forty-six percent of our school’s population qualifies for free or reduced-price lunch, based on family income, making us a Title I school. Many local families are focused simply on working to sustain basic financial needs. Our schools are aging. We are struggling to put band aids on our buildings while we try to raise money for new ones. Our classroom budgets don't provide for all that we need.
My Project
The math standards for 5th grade include measuring volume, area, and perimeter.
I have finally found a manipulative that will help me teach math and science standards!
Other blocks don't stick together on all sides making models difficult to build. Because of their easy use and multi-directional connection ability, they are perfect for student use. Theses cubes will be used to teach more than geometry. I'll be using them to teach fractions, multiplication, and division, addressing science and math standards.
These blocks will enhance learning and skill acquisition.
I borrowed a set of these blocks earlier this year. They truly are a dream come true!
