“Olive” Us Learn by Doing

Help me give my students learning opportunities through stories and hands on learning! With a color printer, I can print learning games and books from Teachers Pay Teachers. We can use resources in Centers or for Distance Learning.

My Students

My eager “kiddos” love to learn by doing. Olive is a small rural school made up of struggling families, so asking for their help is limited. Our fundraisers have been halted due to Covid. I usually help supply my classroom with new items, but since my husband’s stroke, my funds don’t stretch anymore. We need updated hands on manipulatives to foster their best learning style. Our classroom could greatly use a color printer to print resources from Teachers Pay Teachers. We could use these for Virtual Learning or in Centers. Won’t you foster a child’s love of learning?

My Project

Do you remember your Kindergarten experience? You probably remember “playing,” which is really “hands on learning.” Studies show that students who learn by doing have better retention of what they’ve learned. During my 25 years of teaching, I’ve recently seen students struggle with problem solving, and social skills. The use of technology is great, but leaves students deficient in these areas. I want my students actively learning, working together, and being responsible to put things away. Besides adding hands on items, I can utilize a wealth of resources from Teachers Pay Teachers to make learning centers interactive, or send home games and readers for enrichment or virtual learning.
