Help me give my students view higher quality presentations and print their digital masterpieces by connecting the school's old technology with compatible updates.
I have the opportunity to work within our school's health-science institute. Within this program, we seek to support student interest in medical, health, exercise, and nutrition-related careers by integrating their interests in our common courses including math, English, science, and social science.
This is a four-year program, functioning off donations, that operates as a small learning community within our larger student body totaling 2,900.
Help us continue to motivate these students with real-life experiences so they may be best prepared for the real-world.
My Project
It seems so simple, but it is a problem educators and their students experience everyday. The technology in a classroom is always out of date. In fact, it's rare for a school to have the latest technology and we are always one step behind.
My students use technology all the time and in every way, yet the classroom environment does not always support their needs.
A student may ask to submit an assignment digitally, but the teacher does not have the capability to create a digital assignment unique to the student's needs. A teacher may have found a great current event resource, but the item is only available to stream and schools are still equipped with DVD players. Unfortunately, our DVD player is slow and the current DVD players require an HDMI input whereas the school offers S-Video and VGA.
I am requesting an Aver Input/Output Hub to create connections between the different input/output formats and toner for our students to print their documents.
It sounds so simple, but classrooms are encountering these problems daily. Imagine a student spending hours to create and burn the perfect video or presentation only to have an outdated DVD player reject the disc or the school's network crash.
Together we will work to bridge the technology gap classrooms experience on a daily basis by refreshing outdated or broken technology with new, compatible devices.
