Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are a high energy group who love to be actively engaged in their learning. They enjoy a challenge and finding new and interesting ways to solve problems. They have shown a variety of learning styles and preferences and are excited at being on the cutting edge of education now and into the future.
Teaching in a low income area has presented many challenges for my students, but you would never hear them use that as an excuse.
These students have shown great dedication to becoming 21st century learners capable of becoming leaders in the future. The diverse background of many of the students provides a great opportunity to share culture and ideas with one another.
My Project
On May 1st, we would like to take the entire 3rd grade to the Oklahoma Science Museum. This will be a great opportunity to explore and expand on many of the concepts we have been developing in our science inquiries throughout the year. Students will be able to interact with a variety of exhibits that are specifically designed to spark interest in science outside of school.
The Oklahoma Science Museum offers a variety of experiences that cater to the various learning styles of our students.
I am most excited about Spark Park in CurioCity that will offer hands on experiences relating to many of the forces we have explored in class. Through the use of open ended exploration, we hope to foster a love of science and investigation that will remain with students long after the field trip is over!
