My Kindergarten classroom is filled with excited, creative, active, kind little learners who come to school with stars in their eyes and dreams in their heads. We are a small school outside of Salinas, CA. In our school we take pride in ourselves, we are bucket fillers and we are always trying our very best to be responsible, respectful and safe! My students love to learn, have hands-on activities, love to interact with each other and strive on choice.
I love teaching kindergarten.
I love their excitement. I love their innocence. I love their creativity. They love to learn and they are so excited about school it makes every day a new adventure and it is what makes me love my job.
My Project
In Kindergarten, children need choice. They need to be engaged. They need to be able to be active. Having flexible seating in our classroom allows for all of this.
I have dabbled with flexible seating for a few years now but have always felt that my students were being cheated from having a real flexible classroom and I don't want to wait any longer.
Having students be able to use items that will encourage them to move and stand and change positions allows for them to focus better because they are getting oxygen moving to their brain, they aren't required to sit still in one position all day and it gives them the power of choice. Kids need choice.
