Help me give my students Scholastic Magazines! By helping pay for these magazines, you will help students gain a better understanding of the world around them.
I teach seventh grade Social Studies. My students are intelligent, hard-working students who desire to learn, but they are often hindered by motivation and the lack of supplies and resources needed to help them be successful.
Our school is a Title I school, which means a big percentage of my students come from low socio-economic backgrounds.
Many of these students have low reading levels and do not have the background information needed to understand the higher-level print. We are striving to do more reading passages to help improve reading skills with all levels of learning and in all content areas. Finding a good source on students' reading levels is the key to motivate students to grow in reading.
My Project
Our school is a Title I school. Many of our students have low reading levels and do not have access to different types of printed material at home. Because of this, students' background knowledge and vocabulary are not on grade level.
Scholastic magazines will help students grow in their understanding of the world around them.
With engaging content, age-appropriate materials, differentiated reading levels, and digital tools, students will read about current events and topics within all content areas. This will help foster growth in reading skills, including background information, and vocabulary.
With a subscription to Scholastic Magazine, my students will have access to different printed materials which will aid in their learning whether it is virtual or face-to-face learning.
