My students need craft sticks, stars, paint, and brushes to make American flags to give to residents at an assisted living facility as a keepsake of our visit.
"Oh the Places You'll Go" is not only one of my first graders' favorite books, it is also our class theme. My goal is to help my students reach their highest potential and love of learning while nurturing their tender hearts and respect for others.
My 21 first graders are determined, hard working, creative, and joyful.
They are not only excited about their own accomplishments but also cheer on their classmates. I have a wide range of students when it comes to economic classes, but they all have big dreams that I would love to help them make their dreams come true. Our entire team of first grade will be joining my class in this project so I am asking for supplies for 80 students.
My Project
Our class is visiting an assisted living facility as a follow up to a school wide Be Kinder Than Necessary unit. Although our visit will include our core standards of speaking and listening skills, reading with fluency and expression, and math skills, our main goal is to bring some joy to others. We will be putting on a patriotic program with songs and skits along with visiting the residents. The craft supplies purchased will be used by my students to make American flags to be given to each resident as a keepsake of our time together. The students will also make flags for themselves to be an important reminder of loving our country and the people in it.
In a gentle way, you can shake the world.
There is so much more to a child's education than reading, writing, math, and science. I want my students to know that wherever the future takes them they have the ability to shake the world. My goal for them is to lead the way to a brighter future.
