My Students
I teach at a Title I school, and I have enjoyed watching every kindergarten student of mine blossom through the various learning styles given to them by wonderful and caring teachers through their magnificent teaching styles.
I am a firm believer that a kindergarten classroom should be a welcoming place where students are comfortable enough to focus their attention towards learning.
My students walk into our classroom every day full of life and energy, ready to learn about exciting and new adventures that await them. Even the ones who are challenged come in eager to learn. They want to give their best in all that they do. I like to compare their brains to little sponges, gathering up all of the information like the sponge gathers the water and then releasing it to show what power they have gained through learning.
My Project
Almost all of our daily and weekly assessing in kindergarten is administered one-on-one. With 25 students, you can imagine how long this takes. Then there is the additional problem of keeping the other students engaged in meaningful activities while I assess.
These journals will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create for my students' personal learning goals.
This year has been really hard with the recent school outages because of the hurricane. We are working extra hard on learning sight words, improving writing skills, along with reading comprehension. The material that I chose, Picture Word Journals, Sight Word Journals, Draw and Write Journals will help in these areas. These product will help my students by giving them more independent choices in helping to master our kindergarten skills in the ELA content area. I also chose the All About Me Journal so that the students can draw pictures about how they are feeling about certain circumstances in their lives.
With the purchase of these materials, my students will become more involved in making important decisions about their educational learning goals.
