This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students come from different backgrounds. Some of them come from homes where their families are struggling to make sure they have a decent place to live and food to eat. Most of my students may not be able to experience places outside where they live. Changing the environment with new material in the classroom will make it easier for the students to learn. Even though students in my classroom come with issues, it is my job to help them to overcome and adapt. I also want them to be in an exploratory place from the time they arrive and until they go home. They will be meeting their goals individually and striving to do their best.
My Project
Children who don’t know how to read or are poor readers often have low self esteem of themselves and their capabilities. Some children who may feel isolated and behavior problems surface. Children who have an awareness of print understand that the squiggly lines on a page represent spoken language.
To understand a spoken language, a child must be able to hear and distinguish the sounds that make up the language.
There are many activities that you can do with young children to help them increase their knowledge of speech sounds. Having fun with word sounds is a great way to play and learn at the same time.
