Help me give my students Osmo kits to help them utilize technology more effectively so that they can learn Math, Language Arts, and Coding concepts in an interactive and engaging way.
I am lucky to be working with 26 sweet kindergartners this year. My kiddos come from a variety of backgrounds in Pennsylvania. Our elementary school is overflowing with wonderful students and we are so fortunate to be in such a wonderful learning environment!
Kindergarten is such an important time in a child's life.
It is the year that I will get to watch them grow into independent learners and readers!
Regardless of diverse backgrounds, I know that these kiddos will come to school everyday with a smile on their face and ready to learn! My goal is that all of my students will enjoy coming to school each day and be motivated to love learning!
My Project
Technology can be a great tool for learning when used appropriately, and we need tools to help us use this technology more effectively. Osmo kits are one way we can do this. Too often, technology in the classroom means that students are staring at a screen, and while technology can be a great tool, it is important that it be used in the most meaningful and engaging way possible.
My goal with technology is to use it as a tool to enhance learning, and Osmo kits bring a tactile component to technology, allowing students to interact with iPads in a more meaningful way.
I envision my students working in teams of two to solve early addition and subtraction problems, solving word study problems, honing their spatial awareness with tangrams, and building their coding skills with tactile blocks that interact with the screen. Osmo kits lend themselves to student collaboration, which is a 21st century skill and a goal in my classroom. Osmo kits would be a great tool for students to use during independent work time to hone their math, language arts, and coding skills.
