My Students

Being a teacher is the greatest privilege there is! In September, I will have a fresh group of 16 eager learners. In my classroom, I want children to fall in love with reading. Reading is such an important part of a 1st graders day. Providing them with seating options helps them to engage in their reading. My goal is to be able to provide a unique space for every child in my class. My students come from a variety of cultures and experiences, but one thing will always remain the same--we love learning!

My Project

Developing literacy skills and interests is one of the highlights of 1st grade. My students need a welcoming and comfortable area to read independently or in partnership.

Having a reading corner with a couch and comfy pillows will create an inviting area for my emerging readers to explore the endless possibilities.

My 5th grade classroom had a full size couch in our reading corner with tons of furry pillows and bean bags. It was in this room, on that couch, that I fell in love with reading. It was my favorite part of the day. I want my students to have the same experience.
