Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are dual language learners. While some continue to develop their proficiency in English, others are working on developing their skills in reading, writing, and speaking. My students are learning and developing the Spanish language too.
This group of students are always willing to help each other and are encouraging of one other as they continue to develop their knowledge of a second language.
They are excited to learn and look forward to the day to day challenges that will enable new experiences for them.
My Project
Flexibility and different choices for my students will help enable a more comfortable and enjoyable experience during our reading time together as well as independent reading. I would like to give my students different workspace choices. Flexible seating will also help engage students and encourage them to look forward to their time sharing and reading in class. A classroom carpet, mats, and stools will provide a sense of differentiation that may help many of my students be more productive and remain focused depending on the choice and workspace that best fits their individual needs. My goal is to create a space where my students look forward to and get excited about reading. This furniture will help enable this.
