Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district. My students are faced with several challenges outside of the classroom every day. When they arrive, trying to get their focus on learning and keep it is a daily challenge. I have found that this is much easier when I find something that they enjoy!
My fifth graders are successful when they are confident in themselves and have the basic supplies they need to succeed!
It is such a joy to watch them learn and providing them with motivation and confidence they need is sometimes a struggle! Then you add the basic supplies needed in a classroom on top of that and you have a tough job! I love giving my students the very best I can and with your help and generosity, it's possible!
My Project
Our family showcase theme this year is Dr. Suess! What better way to celebrate an amazing author, born right in our city! We have been brainstorming on what type of projects we will be completing to showcase to our families on this great night, including writing our very own Dr. Suess inspired stories! As teachers, we have been brainstorming what would make this night more fun for our students and families to join together.
These themed decorations and treats will help join our families together to celebrate our learning and this local author at the same time!
I was shocked to hear that many of my students had never experienced cotton candy before and felt determined to make it happen! What better night than our family showcase!
