My students come from low-income households in the Bronx. Their families and I truly want what's best for them and for each child to be successful!
My students' eagerness to learn is the reason I go to work every day!
My students have various disabilities and abilities, including learning disabilities, emotional disturbance, autism spectrum disorder, and speech/language impairment. Each day provides us with another opportunity to make strides towards progressing and mastering our individual goals!
We appreciate your time and support with helping us achieve our goals!!!
My Project
My students truly enjoy reading, however, providing access to reading about current events at their independent reading level has proven to be a struggle!
All of my students read far below/below the grade level expectations, with most of the class at the Pre-K to Grade 1 levels.
We have to balance finding high-interest reading at their independent levels, while accessing material at our grade level. Scholastic Classroom Magazines will provide my kids with the opportunity to feel successful with nonfiction reading material that has vocabulary at their level, as well as access to current events articles at the grade 3 level. The Word Skills Books will provide my students with additional exposure and access to building up their vocabulary through various activities.
“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.” ― Dr. Seuss
