60% of the students in my class lost their home and belongings in hurricane Harvey AND their classroom. We began school a month later than planned at a local church in town.
My students are brave and adaptable.
These are just a few words I could use to describe them. They have embraced this year and have made the best out of the traumatic time in their short little lives. I cannot say enough good things about this sweet little class.
My Project
These three tables will give my students the opportunity to move away from their everyday seat and learn in cooperative learning groups. Right now, this process is taking place on the floor.
Studies have proven that getting up and moving to a new learning spot and working with a peer is critical to a young child's development.
These tables would allow my students to have a safe and fun place to work with a partner without having to sit on a cold floor. In our class, we move around the room as much as possible. With children all over the floor, it limits the creative things we can do in class. These tables would allow my students to spread out and have a safe area of their own to learn and grow.
