My students need flexible seating options to keep them engaged. The ball chairs are beneficial to support the students. My students also need a sensory room to be able to get away and calm down.
I am a self contained classroom teacher with 18 wonderful children who have special needs from Intellectual Disabilities to Autism. They age from the ages of 11-14 years old.
My students thrive off a structured environment with the chance to be able to have sensory breaks to help keep them calm.
They have different needs of sensory which require a lot of patience and understanding to best support their lively hood.
My students get very excited with new seating and items that can help them learn and grow.
My Project
Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During independent work times, they choose a location in the classroom that works for them. The wobble chairs, balance balls and the folding lazy sofa would be great ways to help the children with the different sensories they need to help them learn the best. The balance boards and climbing rope are also a great tool for our sensory room to help the kids get out any anxiety or energy to keep learning.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.
Along with the flexible seating, sensory items for my students will help them be able to calm down and release energy so that they are able to come back to the classroom and get the most out of the lesson being taught.
