Help me give my students two books to encourage them to keep going and doing their best on their path to success. They have lived through a pandemic, they can make it through anything!
The last time I saw my students was Friday, March 13. The next week was Spring Break, but I was not sure when I would see my precious kinders again. Now the only way I can see them is through a computer screen.
I want to provide my kindergarteners with a special memory and message that they can carry with them forever.
At this time of the year, my kinders and I are usually creating keepsakes and memories for parents. My end of the year program is themed, "Oh, the Places You'll Go". We invite parents, give them all the keepsakes made for parents, sing songs, and enjoy refreshments. I feel terrible that none of our projects were finished and that kindergarten will not have an end of the year celebration or closure. However, I feel as though through distance learning I have formed a closer bond with most of my students and families. Parents and students have been asked to do the impossible: living, working, and teaching/learning at home.
My Project
If my project is fully funded, I will deliver a book to each child. I want to be able to say hello again, and not good-bye forever! I want to be able to give them a memory book from me, which is also an encouraging message they can carry with them throughout their school career. Parents can then read the book with their child and discuss the ways they can navigate life to stay on a successful path. In a Google Meet, I can discuss students' favorite parts of the book.
Inside each book, I will write a special message to my student and share a special memory of them which I will hold in my heart forever.
I want them to know how much fun we had in kindergarten. Students will be able to keep and cherish their, “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!” book.
