Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Dr. Seuss so wonderfully proclaimed, "The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn, the more places you'll go." My students are eager to learn how to read on their own! We can help by providing the resources they need to reach their goals.
My students are bright, motivated, and one-of-a-kind individuals.
They put a smile on my face each and every day, and they all enjoy coming to school and succeeding in the classroom. I feel so blessed to be their special education teacher and I am lucky to work in such a rewarding field.
Even though it has become extremely difficult and sometimes frustrating to educate without needed supplies, our students still come to school eager to learn. Our school rarely has extra funding for enriching material and if they do, the funds are used for older students. Many of my students' families will never have additional money to purchase educational materials; therefore, I hope to be able to provide a fun and interesting way of learning, so my students can succeed in life.
My Project
I am asking for ink for our new printer we just received in our classroom. My students with special needs learn best through hands-on activities that keep them engaged and motivated throughout the entire lesson. Workbooks and worksheets do not motivate my students to learn, and they do not offer graphics and pictures when teaching new vocabulary. Ink will allow my students to use our classroom printer to help master new vocabulary as well as creating images on the computer to express their thoughts or to share learned knowledge. Many of my students will special needs require language support, so they will use the ink by creating computer images and social media to express their knowledge or feeling towards school.
The ink would allow my students and me to create hands-on materials to use when teaching new vocabulary in all subject areas.
Hands-on projects obviously engage kids who are tactile or kinesthetic learners, who need movement to learn best. They also engage students who are auditory learners, who talk about what they're doing, and visual learners, who have the opportunity to see what everyone else is creating.
