Our school is set in a suburban community, in a large metropolitan city. Even though it is in a large area, it feels like a small community, and sheltered from the bigger city.
We have a large population of students with deployed parents, as military housing sits adjacent to our school and in the surrounding area.
The students at our school come from a variety of backgrounds and ethnicity, and many students choose to come to our school from other neighborhoods.
Our school offers a challenging but rewarding program, with excellent, student-centered teachers. Our science lab serves all the children in our school, from TK through 5th grade, where students participate in hands-on science and engineering enrichment activities that help to prepare or encourage them to take on a science mindset and develop critical thinking skills.
My Project
My 3rd-5th grade students have shown an increasing interest in both coding and robotics, but I would love to expand that for all of my science lab students, from TK-5. The local middle school offers engineering and coding pathways, and I would like my students to be up to speed by the time they are ready to leave elementary. Ozobots are the perfect instrument for all of the grade levels to learn about robotics, and still leave room for growth.
Exploration in robotics has so much potential for engaging teaching and student learning.
This not only drives instruction, but also creates pathways for both growth mindset and problem-solving.
The Ozobot Classroom Kit will give my students an opportunity to explore their own creativity using technology in the science lab. In addition to problem-solving skills, students will have the opportunity to practice collaborating, communicating, thinking critically, and creating what their imagination allows them to. The Ozobots will allow the students create their own mazes, tracks, adventures, races, etc.
Please help my students code their way down the path toward success!
