This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are very special. They are eager and excited to learn. My student come from diverse backgrounds and have many different learning styles, which allows me to differentiate instruction. My students conduct hands-on experiments in order to allows them to become active participants in the engineering design process, while having much fun! There are a multitude of students who enjoy learning, and my kids are one of them. I am so proud to call them my students, they are always enthusiastic and constantly curious beings.
Despite the fact that my students come from low or poor socio-economic backgrounds with 100% of the students receiving free lunch; the students in my class are very eager to learn.
My students are culturally exposed through virtual field trips and on and off- campus field trips. Within the community lies a grocery store, Boys and Girls Club, public library, fire station, and daycare centers that provide before and after school supervision for my students. Yet, the community doesn't have the educational tools that the students need to enhance their learning.
My Project
Flex-Space Bean Bag Seats will make a difference in my students learning by allowing them to take charge of their learning. During independent work times they may choose a location in the classroom that works for them. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. In past experiences I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating.
The students are more engaged in their reading/activities and less disruptive of their peers when they are given a choice of where to work in the classroom.
The product that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. They can also be used as an alternative chair if needed! The flex-space beanbag seats will allow for additional comfortable floor seating options. They are lightweight and can be easily used in many areas of the classroom.
I have seen how choice can positively affect my students work and demeanor and hope that the additional options will help us grow even more!
