Our school is very diverse. Some students in my class have all of their needs met, while others are couch surfing or living in a car and wondering where their next meal may come from. Regardless, all of my students have lots of energy and love to move and learn!
I have students reading at a first-grade level and others at the junior high level.
All of the students in my class come to school every day excited and ready to learn!
My Project
I have several students in my classroom that would benefit from flexible seating. The school chairs students are expected to sit in all day are terribly uncomfortable and restrictive. If students are comfortable and excited they are going to be more engaged in their academics. With this project I am seeking flex balls, wobble stools, metal stools and wiggle cushions, flex bands and knee cushions for student chairs, all of these items will allow for more movement and student focus.
All of the seating options I have asked for will offer comfort and allow for wiggles for those that need it.
Offering flexible seating in the classroom will increase student engagement and allow wiggly students the chance to move around without disrupting the learning of their peers. I have a few non traditional seating options available in my classroom right now and I am having great success, I would love to have more options available.
