This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work in a classroom of eight students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder in first through fourth grade. They learn through a combination of discrete trials, individual, and whole group instruction. They work on social skills with teacher and peer guidance in their sub-separate and inclusion settings. My students love learning through a hands-on approach and benefit from repetition. They have a love for books as well as technology. My students are creative, and incredibly hard-working​, with a desire to learn!

My Project

These sight word and letter cards will help my students with recognition and fluency! The Child's First Snap Words collection includes 643 high frequency sight word cards including words on the Dolch sight word list, Fountas and Pinell high frequency words, and Fry instant words.

My students learn best when using visuals and repetition, so these flashcards will make a huge difference in their emergent-early reading skills!

All of the sight word and letter cards are double sided and use a visual cue to help students better read and understand the meaning of the word and/or letter. Then as they increase their skills they can begin to generalize their reading skill by flipping the card to the side with only the word. The cards also give example sentences for students to practice using the word in context.
