My Students

I work in a small, rural school in Eastern Montana. Our high school currently has around 260 students, over a third of whom receive free and reduced-price lunch. Our school has roughly a 40% transient rate. However, even with the problems they all face, these students are motivated to learn.

These students are part of a bedroom community which is often overlooked by the larger school district's accomplishments.

By providing resources to this school, students will be able to see that their work, sportsmanship, and accomplishments are recognized and acknowledged.

My Project

Mass Media is a combination class which creates the school annual and is responsible for writing and producing a two-page spread which is published in a local newspaper. Hundreds of photos are necessary on a weekly and monthly basis.

We are asking for a new DSLR camera to help catalogue the happenings of our great school.

Students are required to take photos at each sporting event, but there is only one camera to share. Having an additional camera would provide the opportunity to cover more activities in one day or at one time, allowing more students to be recognized for their scholastic achievements.

Mass Media is essentially a student-less small business. Quite frankly, the class is the forefront and face of their school. Having the appropriate technological resources will make fulfilling their responsibilities easier and of higher quality.
