My students need Loupe magnifiers to enhance stem learning. They love to explore the outdoors, while doing graphs and hands on experiments. The Thermal Laminator will improve their displays showing the quality of work.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school is hopping with energetic happy innocence. These 4 to 6-year-old students are just beginning to realize they can do adult-like things. They are learning to walk into a building without holding the hand of a parent, write and begin to express themselves.
In many cases, it is the first time these students have ever been to a theater, zoo, museum or public area.
The area surrounding our school is labeled for the amount of violence demonstrated here. Our children are forced to mature fast, and many live with a grand or great-grandparent.
The most difficult task at my school is the limited ability to make these dreams possible. Our school is 98% free and reduced lunch qualified. Many students wear shoes that are too small or inappropriate clothing for weather conditions. Our school offers them a place to concentrate on being a kid and not the difficulties of their life.
My Project
Our school is surrounded by acres of nature. Many of the students live near the school and have never left the city. Some students will be going to the zoo and aquarium for the first time this year.
I want to encourage their love for learning by introducing them to STEM.
Science, technology, engineering, and math in our classroom makes learning fun. We have iPads and math manipulatives, but really need the hands-on tools for research such as these magnifiers and a thermal laminator that will improve their displays showing the quality of their work. As kindergartners, this year is pivotal in their desire to learn and grow. Help us to get their destinies in history started.
