My students need novels in order to participate in book clubs with their classmates. By sharing a favorite author, my students can find commonality in theme and have meaningful discussions with their classmates.

My Students

My students walk into my room every day, excited to learn! They come from all walks of life. They are a diverse group who learn to work cooperatively, overcome obstacles and find successes they never imagined.

Our class motto is, "Don't tell me what you can't do, show me what you can do!"

My students are excited to learn and create. They learn best through movement and hands on activities. They run the gambit from emergent readers to Excel level students.

My Project

Books! Books! Books! I strive to have a print rich environment in my 4th grade classroom. Matilda and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory are timeless classics with wonderful lessons for my students to unearth. These novels will give students a chance to not only read entertaining stories, but also to learn how to hold a meaningful conversation with their peers.

These novels will be used in Literature Circles, where students will practice creating thought provoking questions along with strengthening listening skills.

Learning how to actively listen to a classmates ideas and find text evidence to either prove or refute the ideas lead to very interesting discussions.
