Hello! I am a kindergarten teacher in Durham County, North Carolina. I love my job and I love my kids! Everyday I try to find ways to make school even more enjoyable for them than the day before. It is so important to keep their love of learning alive! One of my favorite parts of school was always music. I loved singing, playing instruments, and making music as a class. I was lucky enough to grow up in a school system where music was valued and encouraged. Learning about music has been linked to improved academic progress in thousands of studies. Because of financial constraints, our school system is not able to offer children the chance to play musical instruments in school. I would like to offer them that chance in our room. Although we will not be able to create an entire orchestra, we can make music together! One way to achieve this is by teaching the students to play the bells. For young children the bells are color coordinated by the note on the music and instrument. That way, when the children see their color they know to play their bell. We can learn a ton of songs this way! By using bells I can begin to teach students to love music and to love playing it! Thank you so much for taking the time to read my proposal and for your generosity towards our students!
