My students need new books for our class library. These books will allow them to grow their literacy skills while building a love for reading.

My Students

I am a second grade teacher at a rural school in Ellicott, Colorado. For the past year and a half I have had the privilege of teaching in this small community. What I have learned about the children of Ellicott is that they truly have a love of learning. They come from so many diverse backgrounds which include English Language Learners, agricultural backgrounds, as well as military families. Increasing their reading skills and their love of reading is my top priority.

My students children in my classroom have a love of reading.

They enjoy being in the classroom library and curling up with a good book. Our reading choices are limited to what I can personally provide for the classroom other than the books that come with the curriculum. I would use these funds to create a classroom library with a variety of books on all reading levels for all of my children can enjoy. By have additional choices this would motivate the children to continue to develop a love for reading.
