My students receive instruction in technology ranging from parts of a computer to digital citizenship to creating podcasts and more. Some students are more tech savvy than others due to their previous exposure or lack thereof, to technology. These students also come to class with a wide range of abilities and from diverse backgrounds. There are students who have their own laptops at home while others receive weekend food bags to help make sure they have something to eat when they aren't at school.
Technology is meant to be accessed by all.
We strive to provide every child with the education they deserve in order to become respectful, kind and responsible citizens. Our students may come from a variety of economic and cultural backgrounds, but all are eager learners waiting to engage with technology in meaningful ways.
My Project
Using Arduino kits is an easy way to introduce novice students to the world of programming and robotics. The kits are user friendly, so any of my students will be able to follow a step-by-step set of directions to tinker around with this little piece of technology. Students will not only be exposed to concepts in engineering, but they will also work on collaborating with others--a much needed skill of today and for the future.
Giving low-income students access to new technology is investing in their future.
Providing a variety of exposures to different technology is paving a road to vast opportunities for students' futures.
