Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in a first grade classroom in a low income area. You would never know how hard my students have it sometimes due to their uplifting spirits. They are still little but have so much hope. Besides spending hours of the day with the students, I spend hours of my day communicating with parents. What I have found is that although they may not have much, they will give whatever they can to ensure that their child has the best education that can be provided. The students and their families are my inspiration. I have chosen this platform because of them; because I want the best for my students as well and need some assistance.
My students are the rays of sunshine on a cloudy day.
I wake up every morning so excited to see them and when I am gone, I cannot help but miss them. I see them and I know that I am exactly where I am supposed to be. Their thirst for knowledge, open minds, and deep hearts means that there is nothing we cannot do!
My Project
My district as well as myself are excited to promote higher education with our students from as low as kindergarten through high school. After creating college t-shirts for my students, I realized how quickly items can add up. It amazes me how much the shirts have meant to my students and is a tradition I would love to continue.
Gandhi once said "The future depends on what we do in the present".
By gifting my students with their very own college t-shirt, I am taking one small step in inspiring them to seek out higher education and chase their dreams.
