Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Kindergarten students attend an inner-city neighborhood school built over 100 years ago. They all receive free breakfast and lunch and, for many of them, school is the only place where they hear English spoken. This does not prevent them from being eager learners, ready to explore the world around them. They will be learning to read and develop the skills that help them to be good readers and writers.

My Project
Basic school supplies are so important in our day to day activities. It may seem strange to ask for things as simple as glue sticks, pencils, and markers. But our school system has no budget for these supplies and most of our students don't have the means to provide them for themselves. You would not believe how excited a five year old can be to get their own new pencils and markers! It inspires them to get to work!
We will use the markers, pencils, and glue sticks for our reading, math, and science work.
The headphones will be used to access academic programs on our class iPads. The stikki clips will be used to hang up and show off our great work!
