My Students

As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Many of them are being raised in single parent households and receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. Even with all of these challenges, I still believe that I have amazing students at my school. They are striving to learn more and more each and every day. I love giving them new experiences at school since most of them don't have a lot of positive experiences outside of school.

My Project

I would love to have a class set of these books to read with my Jr. High students. Our reading books are very out of date and novels are a nice way to break the every day norm of reading out of the reading book. Also, this novel will teach the students every day life lessons. We will use these books in our reading class. For weeks, we will read these instead of reading in our Textbook. We will also do worksheets and projects that go along with the story. Once we are finished with the book we will take a test on it and then watch the movie.
