My Students

“Scientists have become the bearers of the torch of discovery in our quest for knowledge.” – Stephen Hawking

Students are born to be scientists.

They are naturally curious and experts at observing the world around them. My job as a teacher is to give them the tools to help them learn.

We are a fourth grade class from Oregon. We are curious, inquisitive, and love observing nature. Our classroom is made up of 9 and 10-year-olds from a variety of nations. With varied backgrounds and life experiences, it's critical to give our class hands-on opportunities to learn.

My Project

Our next unit of study is on the structure of plants and animals. Unfortunately, I don't have many visuals in the classroom to help students look at diagrams up close. The large flip chart will help give more visual support to our unit on the structure of plants and animals. Additional books will help kids practice their reading about our unit. Finally, seeds will allow us to grow a variety of plants in our classroom.

Our scientists love learning, but need some support with organization!

Currently, our class organizes their materials in book bins. However, they have been very top heavy and are tipping over frequently in our room. Having a set of bookends will help our scientists keep their work organized. I hope that by having heavy-duty magnets, students will also be able to display their projects more effectively.
