Oculus Quest: Creating an Alternate Reality of Our Own
Help me give my students a reality they create on the their own through Unity programming and Oculus Quest.
The over 450 students at our school are vibrant, inquisitive learners that are willing to take risks and problem solve independently.
Our school is a Title I funded school which translates to a concentration of students struggling with everything that poverty brings into their lives and into their education.
Despite these challenges, they have a love of learning that is fostered by the innovative and cross curricular projects in the library. They take risks and come to school with an open mind and ready to learn.
Before leaving school due to COVID 19 closures, the library students were embracing the craft of coding. They continue to use basic block coding sites while we are learning remotely, however many have maxed out the lessons provided.
Oculus allows (through the use of Unity 3D) and environment where students will be able to create their own (digital) alternate universe.
Once these worlds are created, the students will be able to maneuver through them via the Oculus Quest device. They will be using their coding and programming skills to venture onto a difference virtual quest.
