My Students

Welcome to the Frog-tastic Firsties page. We love to read all genres (Ask one of us. We know what that word means.). Every day, we get to read independently for at least 20 minutes. Then, we get to read with our buddy and talk about our books.

The Frog-tastic Firsties live in a large urban area.

We live in a very diverse neighborhood. At least 20 different languages are spoken at our school. Our school is considered large, with over 1,000 students. The Firsties are a wonderful bunch of kiddos. We are very considerate and polite. We love to read and solve math problems. We are so excited to come to school every day. We have the best attendance rate in the whole school.

My Project

Every year, our teacher introduces us to non-fiction reading and writing. We love non-fiction books, especially ones about animals. Our teacher likes to combine our non-fiction unit with a unit on Ocean Animals. We are so interested in the many different animals that live in the sea. One problem is that many of the books are too difficult for us to read. Our teacher wants us to be able to read and write about different ocean animals. With these resources (books), we will be able to read and research the different creatures that live under the sea. We are also going to participate in art projects, read-alouds, and small group projects. At the end of the unit, we will present our research to other classes and our families.

These books will be a wonderful addition to our class library.

Many of the Ocean Animal books we have are too hard for us to read independently. We love looking at the pictures, but we need to practice our reading! These books will also allow us to complete our first research report!
