I work in a special needs classroom with students grades K-6. I have students who have many different disabilities, such as neurological, intellectual, specific learning disabilities, emotional, etc. Some students that I work with are not on IEPs but are seeing me for interventions. Each student is kind to one another and supports each other with different tasks throughout their day.
Each child has something different they are working on, and we are looking for materials to help support our students' needs!
The needs range with each student and we need help to reach each one of them.
They come to me and each specialist (occupational therapist, physical therapist, speech and language therapist) ready to work and willing to try new things, even though it may be hard.
My Project
We plan on splitting up the flip crayons between preschool, kindergarten, first, second and third grade, and the slant boards will be used with students who currently are sharing a slant board and need to wait to complete their writing projects.
Students with decreased hand strength, vision needs, and poor posture will benefit from these occupational therapy tools.
This year we were unable to purchase any support items for the school and students are sharing or we are making our own items, but we would love for our students to be independent in getting the tools they need without having to share slant boards with others. The flip crayons were requested by our occupational therapist to support our students.
