Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The excitement of "Fun Friday" isn't just once a week...it's every day. This year my students requested more STEAM such as science and art experiments and as well as computer activities. Many of our new resources are used on a daily basis during free choice time.
My students come to school with many concerns outside of their control so, in our classroom, we utilize teamwork and social skills to the fullest potential.
Our school is a small school making a big difference for students who have been placed in our building for various personal/private reasons. Many of them do not have "typical" experiences prior to entering the school system. Here, they receive additional resources and opportunities such as a smaller class size, as well as strategies for social and emotional learning in addition to academic skills.
If funded, we plan to keep these resources in our room, but make them accessible to other students in grades 3-12 in our school.
My Project
This project will benefit our entire school. We have outdoor field day(s) or Family Fun Day(s) a few times a year. To coordinate this, our small school often borrows from the neighboring middle school.
We would like to have our own equipment to practice with and ideally use for an increased number of "field days".
These materials would help us release our extra energy, improve our team building social skills, and add to our physical fitness time! We are asking for 4 different colored pinnies for our students to use. It is very difficult to tell the difference between Team A and Team B when we are all dressed the same! We would like items to practice light throwing skills and jumping skills because this can be done in small spaces which is what we sometimes have available to us if there are several classes outdoors at one time.
