My second graders are all energetic, eager learners. Our school is the first Elementary STEM in Anchorage and we are all working hard to integrate science, technology, engineering, and math throughout our day. My students are developing readers and writers who love exploring the natural world. I have children from very diverse backgrounds and home environments. Although my school is not Title 1, more than half of our students qualify for free or reduced breakfast and lunch. While some students have numerous needs, all have families that fully support them and their educational pursuits. The children work hard during their time at school and are making great gains in reading and math fluency.
My 2nd grade scientists are very curious about the natural world. They love spending time exploring a neighborhood park that we have adopted. Observing nature is of special interest to my students and they are always very excited about what they find.
I would like to have three sturdy microscopes to take with us when we do outdoor science observations.
The Brock Magiscopes are the perfect durable tool for young children to use. These microscopes will provide an engaging closer look at insects, plants and other objects.
Encouraging close observations is something that can be easily done with the proper tools. The rugged Brock microscopes are simple yet powerful and I know will encourage my students as they grow in scientific understanding.
