Help me give my students access to digital braille lesson activities, orientation and mobility virtual lessons, and assistive tech reinforcement.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My students are learning braille and they are eager to be able to read for themselves! However, the remote teaching and distance learning makes it difficult to give them all the support and practice they need to make it stick and reinforce virtual lessons. Because my students are blind and significantly visually impaired, all those "fun" educational programs that the other kids use, such as Zearn, Successmaker, RazKids, SeeSaw, etc., are not accessible to my students. I am trying to deliver tactile materials to their homes, but all of those require parent support.
My students are motivated to learn braille, orientation & mobility, and assistive technology skills.
My students will be able to independently practice their braille lessons, orientation & mobility skills, and assistive technology skills at home in a fun way. Lessons are created specific to students' IEP goals and their progress is measureable and trackable. There are multiple ways to use the tools, including touch screen, paper braille, and electronic braille device.
Teachers report increased student engagement when using gamified digital curriculum, which Objective Ed provides.
Students learn faster and discover intrinsic motivation and students practice and master skills by themselves. Teacher's time is used for new material instead of repeating lessons, and students achieve self-sufficiency quicker!
