My Students

Our school is full of hardworking, persevering and ambitious children. Although students come from a diverse community including those who are poor, homeless, English Language Learners, and children with special needs the children have one thing in common. They love to learn and do their best.

Though one might say the odds are stacked against these children, this is not a thought at our school.

We pull together, learn together, grow and care about each other. We share ups and downs in our academic endeavors as well as those memories and experiences we bring from home.

My students aren't afraid to try and refuse to quit. These students deserve to have all the opportunities to succeed as those who come from better circumstances.

My Project

How do you spell the word? This question is asked over and over in my classroom. Precious time is wasted while students sit and wait for their teacher to get to them.

With the spelling dictionaries, students will have the opportunity to find the word, use it and continue their writing without having to wait for the teacher to get to them.

Not only will it help them in their spelling and writing, but they will learn important skills such as alphabetical order.

The teacher's job will be easier when the children learn to be independent and use their dictionaries. This frees the teacher up to focus on those that need individual help with the skill presented.
