My Students
Our learning center recognizes that children develop and learn things at different rates and times. To ensure that our students are ready for Kindergarten we focus our instruction in five areas, one being Health and Physical Well-Being.
Our students come from many different cultures, and we strive to make our school a welcoming and nurturing environment.
We have more than 10 different languages spoken and this is often their first school experience. All students serviced through our Preschool programs have been determined to be “at risk” due to socioeconomic status or Individual Education Plans.
My Project
This project is the beginning phase of our outdoor classroom area. Our students do not have many opportunities to be outside due to the urban location of our school. Considering the benefits of being outside and the increased amount of screen time young children are getting, we feel that providing adequate time to be outdoors is essential to teaching the whole child.
This picnic area will provide a safe and enjoyable place for students to socialize during meal times as well as giving all 20 classrooms in our school an area to perform outdoor explorations.
Our students love going outside, but our current options are limited to 2 small playgrounds and concrete patios that we have to share with the whole school. This picnic bench area will be a great start to what will be an exciting and innovative area for our preschoolers to openly explore nature.
